It’s Been a Year, But the Future Looks Good

Another Year has come and gone. It’s the time to reflect on the past year and look to the future.

For me, it has been a year full of enjoying time with family, working and traveling. Like all years, there are areas of highs while also experiencing times of lows.

Ashley Cooke describes it best in her song, It’s Been A year:

I've kept my head down grinding

Just looked up and realized it

Damn, it's been a year

And I ain't sayin' it ain't been a good one

It's been a "did a lot more than I thought I could" one

It's been 365 of record lows and record highs

Loving and losing, fun and confusing, praying and shifting gears

For the minute you got, it's probably a lot, more than you wanna hear

So all I'll say is, it's been a year

As the song states, a lot has happened in the past year. If you know me, I am not one to talk about me or focusing on the past ( just ask me about my tattoo) so I will move onto the future.

You are probably thinking, how are you going to talk about the future? You don’t know what is to come. Well, you are correct. But as Matthew West states in his song, Future Looks Good,

I don’t know what the future holds but I know who holds my future.

Yes, there are things that I will do to help make this year great, like vacations with family, embraceing every moment with my daughter, working on lifestyle changes, and focusing on personal growth.

Now, I am a planner, I need to know what is going on and plan everything down to the little detail. I plan for the unexpected. I want to run through all the scenarios so I can plan. When it comes to the future, I know I can not have all the answers. This song by Matthew West has been a reminder that I do not need to know every detail.

Well, I don't have all thе answers, ain't much I've understood

But I know I sеrve a God who's working all things for the good

So, when I need a soul reminder that You still do great things

I just look over my shoulder and see how far you've carried me

And I say

I don't know what the future holds but I know who holds my future

I don't know where the road may go but I know who makes a way

Ain't no fire, ain't no storm gonna steal my hallelujah

I don't know what the future holds but with you the future looks good

As we all start a New Year, I hope you take time to reflect on the past year and remember who hold the future.
